Pattern: MCQs, short questions and
problems
Topics: Scope of biostatistics, use of statistics in biology,
misuses of statistics and how to find a misuse; terminology in biostatistics:
population and sample, variable or factor, classes, groups, class limits,
boundaries; scales of measurement; stages of research; types of data and methods
of data collection, data collection, summarizing information and presentation; measures
of central tendency: computation of mean, median and mode from grouped and
ungrouped data; measures of dispersion: computation of variance, standard
deviation, formation of tables; probability: simple probability: conditional – mutually
exclusive and non-exclusive, independent and dependent.
Be on time and bring your own stationary etc.
Cellular phones are not allowed during the exam. Bring your own calculator. Use of cell phone as calculator will not be
allowed in any case.
